These are the rules for using GiftBrief. We’ve kept them short and in plain English. By using the site, you’re agreeing to them, so please give them a read. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
GiftBrief (giftbrief.com) is run by Elovar Technology Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17148774. Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. When these terms say “we”, “us” or “our”, they mean Elovar Technology Ltd, which runs GiftBrief.
You can reach us by email at support@elovar.uk or through our contact page.
GiftBrief is free to read, and you don’t need an account to use the guides.
You’re welcome to use the site for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don’t:
We can block or remove access for anyone who misuses the site.
Our guides describe kinds of gift, not specific products, and use star signs as a starting point for ideas, not as a prediction of what anyone will like. Every Good if and Skip if is our honest opinion, written to help you decide. It isn’t professional advice.
You know the person you’re buying for; we don’t. Before you buy, check anything that matters for them, such as sizes, allergies, age suitability, safety information or whether they already own something similar.
Prices on GiftBrief are typical UK ranges, usually written as “around” or “usually”, so you know roughly what to budget. They aren’t quotes or offers, and they will change. Where a page says when prices were last checked, that’s the date they reflect.
We don’t sell anything. Always check the current price, stock, delivery date and returns policy with the seller before you buy.
GiftBrief doesn’t use affiliate links at the moment, and we don’t earn a commission when you buy a gift. Nobody pays to appear in our guides.
If that changes, we’ll update our affiliate disclosure first and label paid links clearly where they appear (for example “Ad” or “paid link”). It won’t change which gifts we pick or the order they appear in.
Some pages link to other websites. Some gift pages have buttons that open a search on a retailer’s own website.
We don’t run or control other websites, so we aren’t responsible for their content, prices, products, availability or how they use your information. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. If you buy something from another website, your contract is with that seller, not with GiftBrief.
You need to be 16 or over to sign up for birthday reminders. If you sign up, you give us:
We’ll email you about three weeks before the birthday comes round (sooner if it’s already close). Please only use an email address that belongs to you.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any reminder email, or by contacting us. Our privacy policy explains what we keep, why, for how long and who else sees it.
The reminder service is free. We’ll do our best to send every reminder on time, but emails can be delayed or filtered as spam, so please don’t rely on GiftBrief as your only reminder for a date that really matters. We may change, pause or stop the reminder service; if we decide to stop it, we’ll tell you by email first.
The guides on GiftBrief, and the GiftBrief name, are ours.
You’re welcome to share links to our pages, and to quote a short extract as long as you credit GiftBrief and link back to the page. Please don’t republish whole guides, or large parts of them, without asking us first.
We work to keep the guides accurate and useful, but gift ideas date, prices move and mistakes happen. We may update, change or remove any part of the site at any time, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. If you spot something wrong, please tell us.
GiftBrief is a free site for personal use. In plain terms:
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law doesn’t allow us to, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
We may update these terms from time to time, for example if the site or the law changes. When we do, we’ll change the date at the bottom of this page. If a change makes a real difference to how reminder emails work, we’ll tell reminder subscribers by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the site after a change, you’re accepting the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there’s a dispute, the courts of England and Wales can deal with it; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
If anything here is unclear, or you think we’ve got something wrong, please get in touch.
